Approximately 60% complete Megalodon tooth, recovered from the seafloor roughly 70 miles off the coast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) was an enormous prehistoric shark that lived millions of years ago and is considered the largest predatory shark known to science. Like modern sharks, Megalodon continually shed and replaced its teeth, leaving countless teeth behind on the ancient seafloor.
Over millions of years, buried teeth became fossilized as minerals slowly replaced and filled the original material, preserving these incredible remains for millions of years.
A unique piece of prehistoric ocean history from the waters off South Carolina.
